YOU ARE FREE!

Many around the United States celebrate Independence Day as the birth of American independence. Independence Day marks the freedom obtained by the thirteen colonies. Today, July 4 is celebrated with festivities such as family reunions, cook outs, a day at the beach, and even watching firework displays. It is not uncommon for businesses to close to celebrate this annual event. Many people look forward to this holiday because it is a true sign that summer is upon us.

Over 2,000 years ago another freedom became our reality. Unbeknownst to us, it was the first freedom given to us. God sent His only begotten son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross for all of our sins. Jesus did not have to stay on the cross on that dreadful Friday evening. But because of His love for us before we were even born, He decided to do so. It was important to Him that we enjoy freedom each and every day of our lives.

Many are bound in fear, unforgiveness, hurt, and despair. Many don't understand how to break the chains of sin that are holding them captive. Let me declare to you today that YOU ARE FREE! Jesus died on the cross so that you could be free. The best part about all of this is that He didn't stay dead. He rose on the third day with all power in His hands. He lives! He lives! He lives! And because He lives, you are free!

John 8:8 (AMP) says "So if the Son makes you free, then you are unquestionably free". Hallelujah for His Word. Declare with me on today that today is your independence day. You will no longer be bound by the sins of this world that have held you captive. You will no longer allow the enemy to tell you that this is all that life is going to allow you to experience. You will no longer believe the enemy's lies that God is not real and that He does not care for you. GOD LOVES YOU! Decide today that you are going to follow Jesus. He is a restorer of all that you have lost. Give your life to Christ today and experience true freedom.

Don't Rock the Boat!

Have you ever been in a situation where everything seemed  like it was going perfectly? There was no drama, no confusion, and no chaos anywhere in the mix. You were happy, the results were good, and all of the people connected to you were cooperating fully. Then, out of the blue, drama and confusion show up! You begin to sweat. Panic sets in. You begin to cry. You even let out a scream. You find yourself asking, "God, why are you allowing this to happen to me?! Where are you?!"

In Luke 8:22-25,  the disciples are in a boat with Jesus. As they were sailing along the sea, Jesus fell asleep. The winds and the waves began to grow to fiery heights. As a result, the disciples became greatly afraid. They went to Jesus and woke him up. They were hysterical and questioned Jesus as to whether or not he cared about them and their well-being. Jesus immediately rebuked the winds and waves and they ceased. Everything became calm and peaceful. Jesus then turned to the disciples and asked them, "Where is your faith?" The disciples were in shock regarding everything that took place! They asked one another, "Who is He that even the winds and the sea obey Him?"

My Dear brothers and sisters, God has never left you nor has he forsaken you. The storms of life will catch you offguard and cause you to wonder if God has abandoned you. Please know that God commands the seas, the winds, and everthing that surrounds you. Remain seated in the boat. There is no need to rock the boat because of worry and panic on what God is doing in your life.

Read Hebrews 11:1-3. It will bless you.

My Policy Has Changed

Recently I dined in a local pizzeria with my family. After enjoying a nice meal and wonderful family time, we decided it was time to leave. As I was headed to the front door chatting it up with my nieces, I realized that their parents weren't behind us. Once we made it to the front door, I stopped to wait on them. Oddly enough, my niece and nephew were coming from the back of the pizzeria. Once outside, I asked them what they were doing. They explained to me that patrons were responsible for clearing their own tables. No longer did the pizzeria have an employee to clear the tables after you were done with your dining experience. They also pointed out how the menu was no longer visible in the store and that there was one flat price for your dining experience. The few items that were sold for an additional cost were listed on posters but the items included in the flat cost were not. I was shocked because I sat in the pizzeria for a few hours and never noticed any of the changes.

As I drove home, I wondered why I had not noticed that the policy of the pizzeria had changed. I wondered why I treated the pizzeria the same this time as I had done the last time I was there a couple of years ago. I realized that the store had changed but I had not changed my outlook or perception of it. I had always perceived the pizzeria as an inexpensive locale where I could overindulge on pizza and salad and enjoy conversation with those who accompanied me without any time restraints. Why hadn't I noticed that the policy had changed?

When we decide to give our lives to Christ, there MUST be a change in our lives. People should know that we have given our lives to Christ not because we tell  them that we have done so, but because we display it in our walk and in our talk. Paul tells us in 2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV) "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."  One cannot continue to live a life of sin (anything that separates us from God) and claim that we are His. We must repent and strive daily to be more like Him. We shall never be perfect in and of ourselves. But we are perfected in Christ Jesus. Let your light shine bright so that others never have to wonder whether or not you are a Christian. If your policy has changed, LIVE LIKE IT!

If you have not given your life to Christ or you have been torn with whether you should or should not, let me encourage you on today to try Jesus. Pray this simple prayer with me: "Father, I thank you for my life. I thank you for knowing me when I didn't know myself. Although I desire to know more of you and to live more like you, I don't know how to do it on my own. Please speak to me in a way that I can understand you and know that it is you. I want to know how to live a Christian life."

Read Matthew 5:13-16. It will bless you.

Is Your Memory Full?

Isn't it frustrating when you are attempting to take a picture on your mobile device and you receive an error message that your memory is full? All you want at that moment is to take a picture of the very thing that is worthy of being captured at that time. Instead, you have to stop what you are doing to free up space on your mobile device. The process can be frustrating because you have to decide what photos, text messages, and other data storage things you must rid your device of in a quick instance. If you truly want to take a picture then a decision has to be made right away. If you are unable to do so, then you either have to miss the opportunity or rely on someone else to take the picture for you.

As you look through the things that are using up your data storage, many things may begin to cross your mind. You may think, "why am I holding on to this pic?", "Do I need to print a copy of this texting string?", or "why haven't I gotten rid of this sooner?". You very quickly realize that holding on to your past memories are now preventing you from capturing new and picture worthy new memories. It is time for you to delete some memories.

Too often in life we are unwilling to let go of the past and the things that have happened to us. We hold on to unforgiveness, bitterness, and anger caused by those who have done us wrong. When God takes us to a new place in life where we can be free and experience wonderful new memories, we are unable to do so because our memories are full of all of the things that hurt us in the past. Once we accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior were were made new in Him. 2 Corinthians 5:17  tells us that "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come."  My dear brothers and sisters, if you have accepted Christ Jesus into your life, now is the time to let him into your heart. Delete those memories that are causing you pain and weighing you down so that you can live a life of love and happiness just as it has been planned for you in your new life. If you have not accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, today would be an excellent day! He can take all of the past hurt and create in you a new thing. But you have to be willing to give it all to Him--every heartache, every doubt, every troubling situation. Don't give Him your words and refuse to allow Him into your heart. He can love you like no other. Be encouraged today.

Read Ephesians 4:17-32  today. It will bless you.
